Kansas State University - Manhattan, Kansas

Jardine Building 8 is the landmark building for the redevelopment project and served as the basis for K-State Housing & Dining Services logo. The building is multi-use; apartments on floors 2 and 3, and office and classroom space on the 1st floor. A five-story tower serves as lobby, meeting, and conference space.
The 1st floor houses a reception area to direct visitors to the residential services office suite, two high-tech classrooms or functions located on the 2nd to 5th floors. The spaces on the upper floors accommodate meetings, conferences, luncheons or evening receptions for students, faculty, administration or visiting dignitaries.
TEMDG provided interior design services for the 1st floor spaces, and the entire tower interior. Traditionally designed, the interiors include many custom features including porcelain tiles and woodwork styled as the Kansas state flower. Large pendant light fixtures were also custom designed to fit the very high spaces, up to 53 feet above floor level. Detailed wood wainscots and custom metal balustrades highlight a grand staircase connecting the 4th and 5th floors.
